On April 19, 1,400 elementary and middle school students from the Haut-Lac region gave it their all during a charity run organized to benefit the Rayon Of Aasha association.
Driven by a spirit of solidarity and camaraderie and in a burst of generosity, they raised 72,250 francs, which will be used to build a school for girls who have dropped out of school in the very poor neighborhoods of the city of Pune, India.
The Rayon Of Aasha association—which means “ray of hope”—was founded in October 2022 and is spearheading the project. Members of its board, including its president, Catherine Bonvin Pfammatter, received the check on Tuesday evening at the Vouvry middle school.
Every quarter, you will receive a newsletter sharing precious moments from school life in India and news from the association in Switzerland. A way to stay close and to grow this wonderful project together.
Today, classes are held in rented premises, but Rayon of Aasha's dream is to build a lasting school to transform the lives of many young girls.
